Tianhao Xu
School Leader
I’ve always seen myself not just as a student, but as a connector—someone who brings people, ideas, and traditions together.
Welcoming the World, Representing Our Spirit
As a Student Ambassador, I’ve taken part in multiple official school receptions for visiting international guests, educators, and dignitaries. In this role, I acted as a cultural and linguistic bridge, guiding guests through our campus, introducing them to student life, and answering questions about our education system, extracurricular activities, and school traditions.
Through these experiences, I learned how to present with confidence, adapt quickly in formal cross-cultural settings, and convey not only information—but emotion, warmth, and pride. Representing my peers and my school at this level taught me the importance of diplomacy, presence, and empathy. It was also my first taste of what it means to act as a connector between cultures—a theme that continues in my work with Rooted Treasure.

Using My Voice for Meaningful Moments
On several occasions, I’ve had the honor of standing before the entire school community as a Flag-Raising Ceremony Speaker, delivering speeches during key national or school events. These moments were opportunities not just to address hundreds of students, but to reflect, encourage, and inspire.

Each speech was carefully written and practiced, focusing on themes such as leadership, tradition, gratitude, or growth. I’ve spoken on historical commemorations, academic milestones, and shared thoughts about how young people can take pride in their roots while embracing the future.
These public speaking experiences strengthened my confidence and ability to speak with clarity and sincerity—skills I now apply when pitching ideas, advocating for artisans, or telling the story behind a handcrafted piece.

From School Spirit to Real-World Entrepreneurship
Inspired by our school’s official mascot, the red panda, I initiated and led a project to design, produce, and sell themed school merchandise. I oversaw the entire creative process:
-
Conducted surveys to understand what students wanted in a school souvenir
-
Designed product sketches and sourced suppliers
-
Managed budgeting, pricing, and marketing
-
Led sales events and tracked feedback
This hands-on project gave me a deep understanding of what it takes to turn a cultural symbol into a meaningful product—a concept I now expand upon through Rooted Treasure. It also taught me how to balance creativity and commercial thinking, while building school pride through something tangible and fun.
